As the Bariatric Nurse Specialist at Middlemore hospital (CMDHB) I care for and provide support for patients undergoing life changing weight loss surgery. In the session that I am presenting my aim is to:
• Give an overview of the service we provide at Counties Manukau DHB
• Cover the “typical” post Operative experience
• Discuss the emotional roller coaster that is bariatric surgery
• Discuss the physical changes
• Look at what all this means for the patient one /two years postoperatively.
